AZA GRANTS ACCREDITATION TO THE TOPEKA ZOO
Topeka Zoological Park received a renewal of its AZA accreditation at the national conference of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums in Philadelphia on September 17th. Topeka Zoo underwent a thorough investigation to insure it has and will continue to meet ever-rising standards, which include animal care, veterinary programs, conservation, education and safety. AZA requires zoos and aquariums to successfully complete this rigorous accreditation process in order to be members of the association, and are required to resubmit to this process every five years. “Only the very best zoos and aquariums can meet tough Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation standards,” said AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy. “The leadership and staff of the Topeka Zoo are to be congratulated for the hard work and commitment that they put into the accreditation process.”

Only 216 institutions carry the distinction of being AZA accredited. The symbol is your assurance that a facility upholds or exceeds the highest of standards in the industry.

    SAVE A TREE
In an attempt to cut down on paper consumption and lower our ever increasing postage costs, FOTZ is collecting e-mail addresses from FOTZ members. We will send renewals, zoo updates and Zooreka newsletters via e-mail as an alternative to receiving them in the mail. FOTZ does not distribute its membership list to anyone and will not distribute e-mail addresses. If you’re interested in helping out, e-mail your e-mail address as well as your name and mailing address to fotz@fotz.org and put “Save a Tree” in the subject line. JUST REMEMBER - Every dollar saved will go to support the zoo!
