Zoo Academy (ages 10 – 11)
  

If you are interested in zoos and animals but are not yet old enough to volunteer, we are once again offering our 10-11 year old program this summer! These classes are designed to stimulate critical thinking, improve science skills, increase knowledge of the natural world, and participate in group activities in a fun and exiting atmosphere outside the classroom! Activities, special projects, special tours, experiments, and much more are included in these classes. Snacks are provided but please bring your own water bottle. Camps run from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and you may drop your child/children off as early as 12:40 p.m. and pick them up no later than 5:20 p.m. (please note: a late fee will be applied if children are picked up late). Pre-registration is required and opens April 14, 2008. The fee for each week long class is $60 for FOTZ member and $70 for non-members.

Camp Peka Sue (ages 5-9)

Summer is here again and Camp Peka Sue is back and better than ever! Half day camps are available for children ages 5-6 and 7-9 and your "wild child" can participate in as many of the week long sessions as they wish as long as space remains available. Each week focuses on a different theme and incorporates games, activities, tours, special animal or human visitors, snacks, and much more! So if you’re looking for a fun, educational, and exciting place to send your "wild child" this summer, Camp Peka Sue is definitely the answer! Camps run from 8:00 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. You may drop your child(ren) off as early as 7:40 a.m. (12:40 p.m. for the afternoon session) and pick them up no later than 12:20 p.m. (3:20 p.m. for the afternoon session). (Please note: a late fee will be applied if children are picked up late). Advance registration opens April 14, 2008. Registrations received before April 14 will be returned or placed at the bottom of the list. Registration is limited and on a first come, first serve basis with payment due at the time of registration.


FUN CLUB
(for children of all ages)

Visit the zoo on the first Friday of each month (except for July) from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for a story, a fun craft or game, and much more! Barnes & Noble will be giving away a book at each session to one lucky child and watch for guest readers throughout the year! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $2.50/child participant paid at the time of the program (please note the fee change) + admission to the zoo (FOTZ members still get free zoo admission). Registration is not required.

                    HOW TO REGISTER

Registration forms are available at www.fotz.org.

Registration forms are also available at www.topeka.org/zoo (please note: payment must also be received before your slot can be held - the online registration form does not allow online payment so you must either send payment via regular mail, drop it off at the front gate, or phone in with payment)

An electronic version can be sent to you via e-mail by contacting the Topeka Zoo Education Department at KHayden@topeka.org or a form may be faxed to you.

Pick up a registration form at the entry gate to the zoo. Complete the form, including payment, and hand it to an admission's clerk at the zoo's entry gate.

All registrations must be received by the Topeka Zoo Education Department with payment in order for your spot to be held.

Refunds are only given if the class is full at the time of registration or if the Topeka Zoo Education Department cancels a program.

Education programs will be cancelled if a minimum of five participants is not met five days before the scheduled class time.
